Marc Warren being one in particular. The Disk-World, Terry Pratchett's realm where these events take place, along with "The Colour of Magic" is one of the most beautifully rendered sequences in CGI no matter what the year or medium.
I knew the first time she was beautiful and her characterization of fiercely protective nanny Susan Death's Granddaughter is amazing as well.
I've not seen anywhere that "hogmanay" could be the root of this bizarre twist on christmas time but the British hold and keep most of the same holiday traditions as Americans just not in such a puritanical fashion.
And good night, children Terry Pratchett is the closest writer to a modern-day Jonathan Swift whom I have ever read.
And this adaptation of his novel to the small screen is excellent. Of course it cannot include all the characters, jokes, and parodies of the original, but it manages to make the book's most salient points in the time allotted.
Michelle Dockery makes an excellent Susan Sto-Helit, granddaughter of death; and the actor who plays the apprentice assassin, Mr. Teatime, perfectly portrays the creepy character.
The video should have you laughing one moment and scratching your head the next as Pratchett takes an offbeat but sympathetic look at both Christmas and the human condition.

But who can stop them? Ridcully's motley band of wizards? Hex, the thinking engine? Someone had better act fast, or the Auditors' terrible vision for a hopeless world will become a dismal reality and could spell out the end of humanity as we know it.
