My husband is a Black Metal aficionado and super picky when it comes to what he listens to, and even he agreed it was not only a pretty funny portrayal of the genre, but the music was on point.
Even if you aren't a fan of the music, this movie is hilarious enough to make you like it anyway! This was a truly entertaining movie! If you're a fan of black metal you'll appreciate the humor.
For the most part you have to look outside of Hollywood nowadays to see something well done, and this movie definitely delivers.

It really should be clear that although it can be purchased in the UK unless you know German it can't be watched and enjoyed. No english subtitles even though it said there was in the product description at time of purchase.

If your not a fan of this type of music, it's still very good. There are some crazy scenes and yet it keeps the "feel good" tone of overcoming the odds.

Great, original story. It was so convincing that I actually believed that I would discover that the lead actor lead vocalist in the band in the movie was a member of an actual death metal band in real life!
He wasn't, but he sure played the part perfectly! Besides its authenticity, it's super funny in an epic way so there are many reasons to watch this movie even if you're not a death metal fan.
This would have been a lot funnier, I suspect, if I were into heavy metal rock satire, but it does have some bits even I found quite funny.
It's hard for me to place it, temporally. Is rural Finland really stuck that far into the past? Or is the film actually set far enough in the past for that to be conceivable, if a bit exaggerated this being, after all, a satire?
Anyway, this is the story of a small-town heavy metal band that, when rejected from a concert in Norway, decides to go anyway, notwithstanding the fact that their drummer has to be transported there in his coffin, as he is dead at that point.

Vidgren war für das Team des Actionthrillers Wer ist Hanna? Für beide Regisseure war Heavy Trip mithin der erste Langfilm. Gedreht wurde teilweise im nordostfinnischen Dorf Taivalkoski.
