Unfortunately for the Autobots, a small explosion triggered during the battle cracked Galvatron's lava prison, Ladies' Night and he was soon able to tear himself free.
Knowing that taking over the Decepticons by force would not win him any favors among their ranks, Galvatron instead resolved to turn them against Shockwave by making them doubt his leadership.
To this end, he made a menacing bee-line for the Decepticons' undersea base , prompting the panicked Shockwave to send the Seacons against him.
Galvatron was moderately impressed by the might that their combined form Piranacon was able to bring to bear, but the gestalt was still no match for the future Decepticon's might and quickly fell before him.

On his way back to the surface, Galvatron discovered the damaged Autobot Fizzle , and in a fit of charity, carried him out of the ocean, emerging into the midst of a battle between Fizzle's fellow Sparkler Mini-Bots and the Firecons.
Galvatron laughed off the Firecons' suggestion of an alliance, then backhanded Fizzle into a tree when he tried in vain to stop him from leaving.
Enemy Action! Galvatron proceeded to stalk the Sparkler Mini-Bots after they rescued Ultra Magnus from Mount Verona, and attacked the smaller Autobots with relish, knowing Magnus was helpless to stop him, demoralised from the psychological scars cut from repeated defeats at his hands.
As Galvatron pretty much beat the crap out of the Sparkabots, Magnus finally managed to get his act together, taking Galvatron by surprise.
With a few powerful punches and one heck of a kick , Magnus managed to sent Galvatron into retreat, defeating Galvatron at last! Soon after, Galvatron arranged to meet his ex-lieutenants Cyclonus and Scourge, who had since wound up stranded in the past and sought use of his time jump trigger device to return to the future, unaware the device had been destroyed.
Drafting a particularly freaked-out human to carry him into the middle of a city in his shrunken pistol mode, Galvatron informed his former subordinates that they would have to swear complete loyalty to him; unsurprisingly, they refused, but before a battle could begin, the three Decepticons were interrupted by the Wreckers , sent to Earth via dimensional portal to take Galvatron out.
Galvatron's choice of meeting place hampered the Wreckers significantly, leaving them unable to unleash their weapons for fear of harming humans, and the battle did not to go well, forcing Springer to resort to trickery.
Pouncing on Galvatron, he loudly announced he had stolen the non-existent time jump device, luring the dimwitted Cyclonus and Scourge away.
Galvatron was left facing the rest of the Wreckers, but he easily convinced them to go to Springer's aid and fled while they were occupied. Wrecking Havoc.

Then, before anyone could stop him, Starscream scrafed down all of the Energon and proclaimed himself to be the most powerful Decepticon.

The Lost Treasure of Cybertron. While enviously admiring the energy collecting abilities of Autobot City, Galvatron got a spy report about a new robot car being introduced at a car show.
He decided the robot car would make an ingenious blueprint for an army of robot workers to create an equally effective city for the Decepticons.
Galvatron's men snuck into the Coliseum and planned a black out during the car show in order to steal the robot car. They also captured Kup, who spotted them snooping around.
As the car show began, Kup tripped Galvatron as he moved through the control booth, causing the Decepticon leader to crash through the observation glass and alerting the Autobots below to the Decepticons' location.
Galvatron and the Decepticons were forced to flee with no robot car. Car Show Blow Up. Metroplex, Springer, and Blurr teamed up in a battle on a moon base in an attempt to slay Galvatron.
Springer managed to connect a powerful punch on Galvatron, sending him hurling away. Decipher the Decepticon. Having successfully stolen the Creation Matrix from the Autobots, Galvatron and his troops guarded the relic at their headquarters.
Fooled by an army of Autobot decoys , Galvatron lost possession of the relic. He vowed afterwards that the Decepticons would create their own decoys in order to counter this new Autobot technology.

In yet another possible scenario, Ultra Magnus and a crew of Autobots opened fire onto Cyclonus, from within their shuttle in orbit.
Galvatron emerged from Cyclonus in response, followed by the multiwing jet fighter Decepticons. Despite the Autobots attempting to retreat, Galvatron caught up to them and began tearing their shuttle apart with blasts of his laser cannon.
He then laughed triumphantly as Ultra Magnus's troops began to drift helplessly into the void of space as their shuttle crumbled around them.
In a completely different possible scenario, Galvatron led a Decepticon campaign to retrieve a sphere of cybertite, containing the secrets to an ancient Autobot power-booster within it.
After his troops learned that the sphere was within a sunken ship off the California coast, Galvatron headed a squad to retrieve it. In one possible scenario that ensued, Galvatron happened upon the Autobots already at the coast, in the middle of hauling the ship out of the water.
Galvatron blasted both the ship and the sphere, ensuring that the Autobots would not have access to its secrets, and then began raining down Decepticon firepower upon his foes.
In an alternate scenario, Galvatron arrived at the coast while the Autobots hid away. Ordering the Constructions to merge into Devastator, Galvatron had the combiner raise the ship from the water manually.
If Ironhide, Brawn and Grapple attempted to snatch the ship away from Galvatron, the Decepticons destroyed both the ship and the sphere within to prevent it from falling into Autobot hands.
Galvatron now knew that the Autobots were hidden away in nearby caves, and had his Decepticons use their superior firepower to pin them down, leaving them at his mercy.
If Springer, Seaspray and Topspin put into motion their plan to retrieve the sphere, Galvatron and his troops were too distracted by the sea-bound Autobots to notice that Springer had retrieved the sphere until it was too late.
With the formula in the hands of the Autobots, Galvatron would soon find himself on the losing end of the war. Autobot Alert! Galvatron decided upon testing the device on the crowd that would be attending the rock concert Heywood Heights later in the day.

In one possible outcome, Galvatron's plot proceeded forth without any Autobot interruptions, and the Decepticon gained an upper hand in their war with the Autobots that would most assuredly grant them total victory.
In another possible scenario, Galvatron received a distress signal from Decepticon headquarters moments before he was about to enact his plan.
Though he fought fiercely, he was defeated and the Brain Drain device was destroy when Ultra Magnus triggered an avalanche that buried the Decepticons in snow.
In another possible scenario, Galvatron and his troops were surprised to find the Autobots hiding amidst the parked vehicles surrounding the concert just as he were about to put his plan into action.
But as Galvatron had planned to set afire the parking lot surrounding the concert in order to prevent the humans from escaping, he continued forth with his plan, hoping to destroy the Autobots in the process.
In one possible set of events, the Autobots rushed forward out of the parking lot to better protect the humans. While the Autobots busied themselves with fighting his troops, Galvatron prepped the Brain Drain device, ready to use it as the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons still raged.
Bumblebee, who had noticed Galvatron fiddling with the device from afar, attempted to halt Galvatron's efforts. If Bumblebee crashed directly into Galvatron in an attempt to make him drop the Brain Drain device, Galvatron managed to regain his balance before he dropped the device, only for Bumblebee to explode after having been reduced to a flaming heap by the nearby inferno.
The explosion in turn destroyed the Brain Drain device, foiling Galvatron's plot. If Bumblebee instead attempted to throw a truck at Galvatron to stop him, the truck explodes before Bumblebee has a chance to launch it, and Galvatron successfully activates the Brain Drain device.
In another possible scenario, the Autobots remained in the blazing parking lot in order to fight the Decepticons in close-quarters. Galvatron and Ultra Magnus grappled, with Galvatron eventually managing to fling Ultra Magnus away into the area near the bandstand.
But both Hot Rod and Bumblebee were at the ready to stop Galvatron from using the device. If Bumblebee attempted to stop Galvatron, the Decepticon leader merely laughed at Bumblebee's futile efforts before crushing him underfoot.
Galvatron then activated the device, and successfully drained the nearby humans of their intelligence. Though Galvatron reached Hot Rod first and retrieved the Brain Drain device, Ultra Magnus lassoed the Decepticon leader with a damaged electrical cable.
The electric current running through the cable cause Galvatron to flail wildly, leading to him crushing the device himself. With his plan foiled, Galvatron ordered a retreat.
In another possible scenario, Galvatron arrived at the concert as his Decepticons were already fighting a small group of Autobots.
Leaving his minions to deal with the threat, he began activating the Brain Drain device, only to have it either be blown out of his hands by Ultra Magnus, or destroyed by Wreck-Gar.
With a howl of rage, Galvatron ordered a full retreat. In an alternate outcome, Galvatron and his troops were able to sneak up on the Autobots guarding the concert, as the heroic robots were anticipating the Decepticons to arrive from the wrong direction.
After destroying them, Galvatron proceeded to use the Brain Drain device on the concert-goers, and laughed triumphantly as he robbed them of their collective brain-power.
Project Brain Drain. In one possible scenario, Galvatron and some troops were on a patrol in a desert at night.
Upon spotting a spaceship that flickered in-and-out of sight, they investigated. Finding the Autobots Kup and Hot Rod conversing with a woman at the ship's landing site, Galvatron and the others fired upon them, causing them to scramble away.
Galvatron then ordered his troops to stay and scrutinize the spaceship instead of chasing after the Autobots.
If Hot Rod and Kup decided to attack immediately, Galvatron was wounded by one of Kup's laser blasts. The Autobots were easily defeated and destroyed by the Decepticons nonetheless.
If Hot Rod and Kup silently followed the Decepticons back to their hide-out in a nearby canyon, they managed to tricked Galvatron and the others into thinking that they were being ambushed by a whole squadron of Autobots.
Panicking, the Decepticons attempted to retaliate by firing in all directions. If Hot Rod snuck down and successfully snatched the Invisibility Device from Shockwave, the Decepticons gave chase to the young Autobot.
They were unable to catch him before Kup fired down onto the canyon's walls, causing it to collapse and burying the Decepticons under an avalanche of earth and rocks.
In an alternate scenario, Galvatron and the other Decepticons decided to take off into space in Sarah Sander's ship after acquiring the Invisibility Device.
Whether the Decepticons succeeded in mastering the Invisibility Device and subsequently destroyed the Autobots, or were destroyed or defeated themselves depended on what choices the Autobots made from this point on.
In a completely different scenario, Galvatron was in the process of creating his own ships with invisibility capabilities, armed with neuron beams.
When the Autobots failed to find one of his test crafts in the desert, Galvatron was able to retrieve it, and later launch a full-scale assault on Metroplex.
He destroyed both the city and its inhabitants while gloating of his victory. In another possible scenario, Galvatron and his troops happened upon Sarah Sanders's ship before any Autobots had come in contact with her.
While Scavenger held the woman captive, Galvatron and the other Decepticons dragged the ship itself to a hidden location. In whichever scenario that followed, the Autobots managed to steal the Invisibility Device from the Decepticons, either dazzling Galvatron with their headlights while Hot Rod took it right out of their hands, or tricking most his troops into leaving the spaceship behind while they pursued the young Autobot on a wild goose chase.

Galvatron's quality is absolute top tier. After rebuilding himself and conquering Earth, Megatron set out to reclaim Cybertron, only to be forced to contend with a new Autobot leader who proved to be an even more dangerous foe than Optimus: Rodimus Prime.
Defeated and left hanging from the edge of a spacebridge, Megatron chose to abandon himself to fate rather than allow Rodimus to kill him, and wound up in the interdimensional city of Axiom Nexus, despite restrictions put in place by the Transtech to prevent versions of Megatron from taking up residence there.
Megatron's Cybertronian design hearkens to the movie version but with more human-like features, while his Earth design bears similarities to the "Super Megatron" form of his G1 incarnation.
He wields his trademark fusion cannon which is much larger than usual in this series and carries a pair of swords.
Early artwork depicted them as katana, but this was later changed. His original alternate mode is an unknown Cybertronian space vehicle but becomes a tiltrotor aircraft once he is rebuilt to blend in with Earth.
In this series, Megatron has his own catchphrase: "Decepticons, transform and rise up! A marked contrast between this and other series is that Megatron and Optimus Prime's antagonism is not personal: before their first battle, they had never met, and they continue to clash on the basis that they are on opposite sides rather than on any particular personal hatred.

Even though he found it, Megatron was betrayed at the beginning of the series by Starscream , who planted an explosive device on his back.
Due to the explosion that crippled the Autobots craft, Megatron's lifeless body crashed on Earth, contracting "space barnacles," while his disembodied head was found in rural Michigan by a young Isaac Sumdac.
Megatron's head subsequently became a keystone for Sumdac's various robotic creations, which he used to help convert Detroit into a technological metropolis within the next 50 years.
This version is less tolerant of Starscream's treachery: after gaining his new body, he uses Sari Sumdac 's key to slay Starscream, and takes great pleasure in killing him several times once he discovers that Starscream has become immortal due to a shard of the Allspark embedded in his head, and he would later destroy Starscream's replacement body, moments after he got it, once the treacherous Decepticon had outgrown his usefulness.
Megatron is also the most cool-headed among his other adaptations, despite being just as arrogant as his predecessors. Furthermore, he doesn't consider Optimus of any actual importance until the climactic final battle on Earth, where Megatron finally acknowledged him as a threat by name.
In the end, Megatron is captured and brought to Cybertron. After the events of the animated series, Megatron was placed in detention at the Trypticon stronghold in Kaon city.
The Megatron of the Transtech world works together with his world's Optimus Prime. Shockwave is one of his chief scientific researchers. Shockwave used to work for the renegade Decepticon Jhiaxus as a scientist, but after Jhiaxus was destroyed Shockwave was brought in by Megatron as a prisoner.
Initially put on trial for war crimes he was freed by Megatron, who argued to Sentinel Prime that Shockwave's mind would be an invaluable asset to them.
In Withered Hope Megatron and Optimus Prime heard the pleas of six Gobots whose home dimension was being destroyed, but he wasn't interested in helping them.
In Transcendent Shockwave kidnapped Breakaway to examine him under the orders of Megatron. After Shockwave discovered that certain systems in Breakaway were unique and might be useful Megatron requested permission from Transtech Ratbat to take the Autobot apart, even if it may kill him.
When Alpha Trion's forces raided the lab to free Skyfall Megatron opposed them, but they escaped to another dimension. Megatron appeared in Invasion Prologue by Fun Publications.
This Megatron, later called Galvatron, is a heroic mirror image of the usual Megatron character from the BotCon exclusive "Shattered Glass" comic, in which the Decepticons are on the side of good and the Autobots on the side of evil.

Megatron then tricks Optimus into using Megatron's own weapon to cut Megatron's hand off, freeing him from Nightstick. Megatron misses the launch of the Decepticon ship Nemesis , which is taken over by Starscream to counter Autobot ship Ark.
In Reunification , Megatron greets a Quintesson and the dimensional travelers Breakaway, Topspin Skyfall and Landquake after their escape from the Autobot combiner Computron.
Megatron introduces the travelers to Heatwave but then is shot by the traitor Cyclonus , who is working for Alpha Trion. The travelers try to combine their powers with Heatwave to return Megatron to life, but instead, have a vision of Skyfall and are combined into Nexus Prime.
Nexus Prime resurrects Megatron as Galvatron. Another character named "Megatron" would appear in the story "Shattered Destiny", the final chapter of the Beast Wars Shattered Glass comic arc.

Eventually fighting for the restoration of Cybertron and cyberforming of Earth, which was foiled by Optimus, but Megatron had his revenge and used the Nemesis to destroy the Autobot base before setting up the new fortress of Darkmount.
Shortly after the destruction of the base Megatron sent massive search parties to find the surviving Autobots and was even given a Predacon to look for them.
However, Darkmount was soon destroyed by an all-out attack by the Autobots. Megatron's next plan was to create an entire army of Predacons to serve him.
However, when his lone beast evolved and transformed, Megatron became fearful of what he was capable of and scrapped it.
In the destruction Megatron found the means to restore Cybertron once more with Synthetic Energon, as Megatron's plan to rebuild the Omega Lock progressed, the Autobots invaded the Nemesis.
As Optimus and Megatron fought, the tyrant was finally killed by Bumblebee. The series' finale movie, Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising , though "killed", Megatron was awakened by Unicron, who took possession of his body and reformatted him with new improvements upon his chassis.
Unicron would then inflict eternal suffering upon the warlord as Unicron attempted to destroy Cybertron, but was freed from the chaos lord by Optimus Prime.
Megatron then regained control of his body, but then abandoned any plans of conquest, having realized the true meaning of oppression by Unicron's treatment of him.
He abandons leading the Decepticons and disbands them as a military force, then flies off into space, presumably as banishment and self-imposed exile for his past actions.
Optimus even stated that every sentient being, including Megatron, has the capacity to change for the better.
While Megatron doesn't appear in the sequel series, Transformers: Robots in Disguise , or the spin-off, Transformers: Rescue Bots , which is aimed at younger audiences, he is sometimes referenced or mentioned, tying those series into the larger continuity.
It shows that he got his name originated from the original name of the Fallen, Megatronus Prime. He reappears in the sequels Transformers: Exiles and Transformers: Retribution.
In the novels, he is portrayed as a miner originally known only by the designation D who fought alongside Sentinel Prime and others in resisting the Quintesson occupation of Cybertron.

In the process of this, he attracted the attention of a data clerk named Orion Pax, who contacted Megatron and began consulting with him regarding their agenda.
Megatron's followers soon began launching terrorist attacks which he denied involvement in, and he arranged through Orion to appear before the High Council of Cybertron.
There Megatron argued for the destruction of the old system, while Orion called for reform; it was after their appeals that the Council renamed Orion, dubbing him Optimus Prime and charging him with seeking out the Matrix of Leadership.
Enraged by this ruling, Megatron and his Decepticons declared war against Optimus and his Autobot adherents.
The conflict devastated much of Cybertron, and in his quest for an advantage, Megatron learned of the existence of Dark Energon.
Utilizing this new power, the Decepticons began to gain ground, and Megatron sought a means of infecting all of Cybertron with the substance to insure an unending supply.
In the process, he was forced to face Sentinel Prime, whom his forces had previously held prisoner, and Starscream, who made a bid to take over the Decepticons.
After mortally wounding Sentinel and humbling Starscream into continued subservience, Megatron succeeded in defeating Omega Supreme as well and infecting Cybertron with Dark Energon.
The Autobots managed to remove the taint, but Optimus Prime and many of his forces departed Cybertron in the Ark to give the planet time to heal, prompting Megatron to give chase in his Nemesis battleship.
Megatron and his forces pursued the Ark to Velocitron, where he made contact with a local Decepticon faction alerted to his impending arrival by a Decepticon double-agent amongst the Autobots.
Continuing on, they arrived on the planet Junkion, where they discovered the Requiem Blaster, Megatronus Prime's long-lost weapon of mass destruction.
Recovering the weapon from within the planet, the Decepticons attached it to the Nemesis and engaged the Autobots in battle.
However, the Requiem Blaster proved too powerful to utilize more than once, prompting the Decepticons to jettison it. During his battle with Optimus, he briefly saw into his opponent's mind and got a sense of the direction in which to seek the Allspark, a legendary artifact jettisoned from Cybertron by Optimus to keep it out of Megatron's hands.
Megatron and his forces set out in search of it but ran afoul of a crew of Star Seeker pirates led by Thundertron, who engaged the Decepticons in a heated battle before withdrawing.
The supposed Allspark signal would prove to be a ruse, generated by the Quintessons to lure the Autobots and Decepticons to one of their conquered worlds.
Thus, on the planet Aquatron, Megatron and Optimus were commanded to come to a peace agreement. However, this all proved to be another ruse intended to capture both factions of Transformers and use them to provide power for the Quintessons' invasion of Cybertron.
Megatron and Optimus were forced into another duel and afterward drawn into the sewer-like depths of the Quintesson city.
While there, Megatron discovered prophecies about himself recorded by the Sharkticons who had resisted Quintesson slavery in times past.
Eventually, he realized these prophecies by taking into his body a facsimile of the Matrix of Leadership, which caused him to take on Sharkticon qualities.
Leading the Sharkticons in battle, he fought against the Quintessons and sought to take over their world, only to be defeated by Quintesson-created Sharkticon General Tyrannicon, who stole the Matrix replica from him.
The Autobots and Decepticons subsequently departed Aquatron, with their destinies eventually leading them to Earth. Megatron is often voiced by Frank Welker , who originally voiced the G1 character, and while Hugo Weaving was chosen to voice Megatron in the first three live-action films, Welker voiced Megatron once again in supporting media and eventually inherited the role in 's Transformers: The Last Knight.
He would later reprise his role as Megatron for the series Transformers: Prime. The second most consistent voice actor may be David Kaye , who originally voiced the Beast Wars Predacon leader and an alternate version of the Decepticon leader in the Unicron Trilogy.
Generation 1 Megatron has appeared in numerous Transformers video games. Megatron appeared as a final boss in Transformers Battle Circuit , a simple Flash -based video game on the Hasbro web site.
